Summer evening light on the Common
On 28th June we celebrated the Shop and Cafe’s second birthday. Amberley, you know how to have a good time! For the second year in a row, the weather was glorious for our birthday party and there was joy all around! So many of you came along to join in the celebrations, you made it a record-breaker for the shop and cafe. All proceeds are going towards a new, fast oven that will transform our menu offerings. We were so busy that we barely took any photos, but we hope these few give you a taste of the good time that was had by all. Big thanks to all attendees as well as everyone involved behind the scenes and on the day - from selling jigsaws to cooking sausages - all soundtracked by the fabulous Rodborough Folk Orchestra who created a great atmosphere.
Shop News
The shop team are ready for summer with some new additions. We have some wonderful marinades and spice rubs in stock alongside a range of delicious condiments to spice up your summer BBQ. Selsley Red Onion Marmalade dolloped on top of a cheeseburger made with slices of smoked applewood cheddar (in the chiller) takes a bbq burger to another level. Have you tried the Louisianna Cajun seasoning on a spatchcock chicken slow cooked in the bbq? Or for speed rub it on some flattened out chicken breasts with a little olive oil and char grill and serve with salad and a home made slaw.
Salt Bakehouse are still popping up on a Tuesday morning from 10.30am. They are in the forecourt selling delicious sourdough and pastries for an hour.
I have been making a grilled goats cheese salad on repeat, using slices of goats cheese log (supplied by Taylors of Minchinhampton and you will find it in the chiller) with a mix of crushed walnuts and fresh breadcrumbs (I use up any ends of Salt sourdough) pressed on top, a sprig of thyme and a drizzle of Cotswold Gold cold pressed rapeseed oil then under the grill on a baking sheet lined with foil for a couple of mins - (or in the oven works well too - just keep an eye or it will go molten before you know it!). Slide it off onto a pile of lightly dressed leaves and a spoon of Selsey herb farm chilli jam wouldn’t go a miss on the side!!
Don’t forget we have teamed up with IronEasy to offer dry cleaning, laundry and ironing as well as alterations and repairs. Simply drop your items off at the shop. For more information pop in or check out their website http://ironeasy.biz/
CAFE NEWS
The summer menu is proving popular with customers
We have launched our new summer menu featuring a selection of mouthwatering salads and frittata – served warm or chilled, depending on your preference. Check out the photos which show a Mediterranean frittata, which has peppers and feta, with side salad. This plate features a local spin on a Waldorf salad and an Italian green bean, olive and caper salad. Other salads include penne, tomato and pesto. We continue to sell the ever-popular hot sausage rolls with Selsley chutney and sandwiches from Henry’s in Minchinhampton, both available with side salad. The latest sandwich flavours are: chicken and bacon, hummus and rocket, and egg mayo.

a little note on parking……….
Parking on the forecourt is for blue badge holders only. We would ask you kindly not to park on the gravel or on the forecourt unless you are loading and unloading for the parish rooms or are a blue badge holder. School, playgroup, walkers and emergency vehicles all need to safely access the forecourt and they can’t do this if it is being used as a car park.
From Alison our volunteer co-ordinator…….
