New structure for Amberley Shop & Café

We are all settling into our new structure following the Annual Members Meeting on 15 October.

The Management Committee has taken on a more strategic role, being responsible for mission and vision, finance, HR and compliance. The committee comprises the roles of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer with 5 further members and our Manager Lou Trigg who is a co-opted member without a vote. There is currently a vacancy for a new Chair since Neil Truphet stepped down at the AMM. Beryl Phillips continues as Secretary and Sarah Goodwin as Treasurer. Other committee members are Fod Barnes, Richard Herbert, Deb Herbert, Bex Braithwaite, Tim French and Jackie Davis.

The former members of the Management Committee continue in their roles on the operating teams which lead the day-to-day running of the shop & café.

Clare Bassett was in the lead on the design of the look and feel of the shop and café, selecting the interior décor and sourcing a lot of the furniture, fixtures and fittings and designing the layout. She joined the shop supply team specialising in high-end luxury food and local artists’ cards and gifts. She has taken on the responsibility for the flowers and plants and the overall shop display. She remains on the Shop Supply Team.

Rosemary Bailey has been in the lead on researching and putting together bids for grants, many of which have been successful and secured funds for important pieces of equipment or sections of facilitating work. She continues her work in the Café Team.

Rachel Postlethwaite was one of the original Steering Group members and has actively promoted the shop & café on social media, turning content into engaging stories and continually flying the flag for our growing community business. Rachel continues her work with us on the Events Team and the Marketing and Comms Team.

Alison Truphet continues as Volunteer Coordinator and is gradually rationalising the work she does in various areas of the shop & café business. There is now a rota management team which comprises only 3 people but represents an important move to spread the workload for volunteer coordination and management.

Neil Truphet, having stepped down as Chair, is in the lead with Fod Barnes on management of our facilities and overseeing the maintenance of the building and all our appliances.

The new structure confirms the importance of the Operating Teams which are as follows:

Café
Shop Supply
Rota Management and Volunteer Coordination
Facilities Management
Events
Marketing & Comms
