SHOP NEWS …….
Another busy month for the Amberley shop and Cafe with lots of support for our events from the community including our Mothering Sunday Cream Teas. Thank you!
We have some nice new products for you this month.
Perfect for a quick spring supper this Farfalle tricololore.
pair it with one of the delicious new plant based pasta sauces and top with a generous grating of parmesan from the chiller.
Wild garlic is out in abundance all around the village. Using the fabulous Netherend salted butter from the chiller I make a log of wild garlic butter and keep it in the freezer to use over the coming months. Pick a handful size bunch of wild garlic - not from the edge of the road! Chop it finely and mix it with a whole pack of softened Netherend salted butter. Fashion the butter back into a log shape using teh original wrapper or a piece of greaseproof paper, twist teh ends and freeze. You can then slice off a disc everytime you would like some garlic butter. It is fabulous for garlic bread, wonderful under the skin of a chicken before roasting, or melted on to veg before serving.
CAFE NEWS …..
Cake of the month in April is a delicious Orange and Pistachio cake. Do pop into the cafe and enjoy a slice.
Rosemary Bailey ran one of her very popular free, seasonal, origami sessions in the cafe just before Easter. 10 people came along, from Teens to Septuagenarians. In the first half hour, everyone made a display box and then, having got to grips with the folds, many made a second in a matter of minutes.
We then moved on to a 3-D Easter bunny. That introduced everyone to "squash folds" and "push folds" to create the ears and head. People helped their neighbours to resolve any upside down bodies or back to front ears, and we all had a laugh. The rabbits even fitted in the display boxes so everyone went away with something neat to show for their efforts.
Origami in the cafe will be back in the Autumn.
We are supporting the National Year of Reading with our book swap event which runs all the way through April. We have had many book donations, and are happy to take more if you want to thin out your own book shelves at home. We want to say a big thank you too to everyone who has donated and remind everyone that they are free to take a book whether they have donated or not. So please do come and browse the shelves and take books home for any small people in your life to enjoy. Books that remain will be given a good home with the ‘Read With Me’ charity in Nailsworth at the end of the event, extending the chance to read and be heard reading to all children.
TuSC will be in the Cafe during the Easter holidays, ages 2-5 but all welcome. Tuesday 7th April 10am - 10.30am
