Would you like to see your photo of Amberley in our monthly newsletter? If so send it by email to newsletter@amberleyshopandcafe.co.uk with your photo attached as a jpeg (not too high res) and we will feature it.

AmberFest was a huge success with glorious weather, great music, and fab food with a bar, bbq, and cream teas. We were lucky to have a great mix of live music from Spiracy, The Jawbox, and Alison Hustwitt.

The funds raised from the celebrations have been earmarked to buy a new freezer, allowing us to add more delicious options to our menu in the future.

The raffle raised an amazing £370 for the charity Read With Me that provides one to one reading support for children in school.

A big thanks to the fabulous local businesses who supported the raffle: The Amberley Inn, The Black Horse in Amberley, Cotswold Lakes Brew Co, Ethical Addictions, Hobbs House Bakery, Salt Bakehouse, Selsley Foods, The Fresh Standard Brew Co, The Ram Inn of South Woodchester, The Old Lodge, Woodchester Valley Vineyards.

SHOP NEWS…..

Perfect for a summer soiree, the shop team have added some fabulous non alcoholic options to the range.

I can highly recommend these non alcoholic cocktails, you really don’t feel short changed if you are the designated driver.

Motheroot - which has something of a cult following, is an excellent aperitif served with tonic.

A great selection of non alcoholic beers and ciders including our local Cotswold Lakes pale ale.

Don’t forget that Salt Bakehouse are outside in the forecourt every Tuesday morning between 10.30 and 11.30 with their van selling delicious sourdough bread and pastries.

CAFÉ NEWS…..

It's July! We are celebrating with a new cake of the month - a yummy blueberry crumble muffin. It has a light golden brown sponge with sweet vanilla notes, you bite into a blueberry compote centre and it is topped with streusel crumble and dried blue cornflowers.

Regular Friday Cuppa members were treated to a special Communi-Tea on 26 June with12 children from year 6 at Amberley Parochial School. The children arrived early to help set up tables and chairs, prepare the cakes and biscuits and lay out the cups and saucers. When they had served everybody, the children sat with the grown-ups for lively friendly chatter.

The children derive so much benefit from our work experience programme with the school. We have 6 “student take-over“ afternoons every school year when the children come in groups of 3 to learn about working on the shop and café tills, stocking the shelves, serving customers in the café and clearing up after them.

Amberley Parochial School value this programme very highly for its success in making community links and for helping the children to develop confidence in talking to older members of the community, who, in turn, love working with and chatting the youngsters.

If you are part of a local activity or friendship group, have you thought of meeting at Amberley Shop and Café? We already have several groups that come in regularly. These include monthly book groups, a fortnightly French conversation circle, and a ladies' chat group. There is also an upstairs gallery that the church allows small groups to book for committee meetings or other non-messy activities. Email manager@asotc.co.uk to find out more

England are still in the World Cup - hurrah! Rosemary has very kindly made some fabulous world flag bunting colouring sheets which are available in the cafe. Great for keeping young and old occupied while having a drink and a piece of cake! Send us a picture of your finished flags and we will feature it in an upcoming newsletter .
