It’s nice to be back with you after our summer break. There’s a distinctly ‘back to school’ feeling in the air, though I am not yet ready to part with my flip-flops and don a sweater yet!
There’s lots to look forward to throughout the autumn in the shop and Café. New cakes, Musical Sundays and the return of soup to the menu!
Shop News…..
A reminder for new subscribers, you can pick up your daily newspaper in the shop seven days a week.
Kimchi is a new addition to the shop and is proving very popular.
We have two products available, Vardasz superbeet and super raw kimchi. A super condiment that will transform any meal, and is really good for gut health. I like to make ‘kimcheese toastie’ - I grate loads of mature cheddar (from the fridge in the shop) on to one slice of Salt Bakehouse sourdough, spread the other side with some kimchi, sandwich them together and lightly butter the outside, place in a frying pan over a medium heat with a weight on top till it is golden and flip it over and repeat with the other side. It makes a really delicious lunch - try not to burn your mouth though!!
Don’t forget that Salt Bakehouse are outside on the forecourt every Tuesday morning between 10.30 and 11.30 with their van selling delicious sourdough bread and pastries.
Café News…..
Cake of the month in the Café for September is Millionaire’s shortbread (my favourite!). perfect with a cup of coffee.
Our Macmillan Coffee Morning will be on Friday 25th September, 10.00 am – 12.00 pm.
As always, this popular fundraising event will feature a marvellous selection of homemade and donated cakes. There will be coffee and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and suppliers.
We are proud to raise over £1000 for Macmillan each year so please join us to be a part of this year’s success!
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We are delighted to tell you that Musical Sundays are back in October from 2.30-3.30pm, starting with the Baroque sounds of Trio Sulla Collina on October 25th.

If you are part of a local activity or friendship group, have you thought of meeting at Amberley Shop and Café? We already have several groups that come in regularly. These include monthly book groups, a fortnightly French conversation circle, and a ladies' chat group. There is also an upstairs gallery that the church allows small groups to book for committee meetings or other non-messy activities. Email manager@asotc.co.uk to find out more
